Empathy

How does Pat Robertson know that the people of Haiti made a pact with the devil? Where did he get his information? Does he talk to Satan? Does he have a one-way line to Beezelbub? I don’t know how he came to believe what he believes. I don’t know who taught him these things. I don’t know what his mother said to him at night, long ago, when she put him to bed. But something is terribly wrong, terribly and grotesquely wrong, if his first reaction to seeing a person lying on the ground with a bone sticking through their leg is to think: you deserve this.

  1. The man is both an idiot and a monster. This isn't even something that you can attribute to upbringing. He did/said something that was inherently evil, and he deserves everything he gets in the aftermath of it.

  3. He is basing that notion off Haiti's equivalent of the Boston Tea Party. The Haitian slaves convened a meeting at which they declared thier solidarity and determination to gain freedom.

Now Voodu has always been a part of Haiti and there is a lot of sillyness written about it. At this meeting there was a Voodu priest and amongst thier declarations was the rejection of the white man's God. Frankly, you can't blame them.

This, in Pat Robertson logic, means a pact with the Devil.

  5. People believe some strange things.Or they say they believe certain things. But what does it really mean to say,I believe this or that??Nothing really...It means nothing in the end.Its probably more who u really are than what one says they may think they believe or know to be true. The Devil??haha.Ive never seen him myself. Not yet anyway.haha.
